The world ate my homework….
More than five years ago (!), I wrote a blog, which ended up being my STATIC blog for that very long time frame as, my then 92-year-old mother, had started to fail and, several months later, passed away. I served as the executor of her personal estate and, just as that was coming to the end, I fell, breaking my arm and dislocated my shoulder. Next came the COVID crisis – and other assorted delicacies – and here I am! Still alive, although VERY behind on my work. However, the good part of that ordeal, was spending so much time with my sweet pup, Lola!
I have finally been able to start getting back into my groove, reminding myself of login credentials, processes etc. Like everything, life is a work in progress and I am at last progressing along once more.
Going through the loss of a parent, especially the second and final time, affected my mindset like nothing else. Like most “orphans,” my emotions rode a myriad of roller coaster arcs and surprises, and definitely changed my perspective on so many things. But like everything else in life, a debit is a credit and experiences allow for growth and new realizations. I am in the process of using my newfound perspective in creative endeavors. More information on that will be forthcoming.
Enjoyed your blog; happy to have you back to your creative talents as a writer. Agree as far as a fellow “orphan”; so many emotions and new perspectives to go through. I always say that means our parents were loved and we knew they loved us!
Thanks! And I think you’re right. All loss is hard and the loss of your parents is even tougher because you never have anyone who loves you in that way again.
