Holiday Greetings

Thanksgiving is here and the turkeys run!
No, I don’t mean the birds are on the run.
It’s the people who skip this grand holiday
To plan for others still a month away!

Don’t be a turkey, pigeon or goose,
Take some time to let go and let loose!
Enjoy this day about love and thanks;
Don’t spend it filling department store banks!

So here’s to good moods and lots of great food:
With best wishes from your poetic message guru!

With lots of holiday cheer,

Brenda Martin

Turning 62

Oh no! What to do?
The calendar says you are now 62!

If you are working – or even if not –
Taking Social Security requires some thought.

You know you are eligible at age 62,
But have heard it’s not easy to know what to choose.

That’s where your friends at XXX come in handy;
To make sure your choice is both fine and dandy!

Call us to have an important conversation
About “Social Security Maximization.”
We won’t just talk and use our imagination;
We’ll actually show you great illustrations!

You’ll learn the difference between taking it now,
Or by eight years later as events will allow.

But that isn’t all that you have to decide –
You might get more from having once been a bride!

To make sure you make the very best choice,
Please call and give us an advisory voice.

Though you might wish to start claiming your money
Practice patience – evaluate – and your days will be sunny!

“You Can’t Hurry Birth”
(Song Parody of “You Can’t Hurry Love” for Shannon & Jeremy)
By Brenda Darnley Martin – February 15, 2007

I need drugs, drugs
To ease my pain.
I need to have – have this baby now,
But the doctor says:

You can’t hurry birth- use this refrain again
No you just have to wait! at the end of the page
‘Cause birth don’t come easy-
It’s a game of wait and weight!

You can’t hurry birth-
No you just have to wait.
You’ve got to wait, wait patiently;
No matter how long it takes!

But how many times must I cry
Before I finally know – my waters gonna break?
Right now the only thing
That keeps me hangin’ on,
Is when I think about
My baby’s smiling face – smiling face.

Oh, you can’t hurry birth-
No you just have to wait.
‘Cause birth don’t come easy
It’s a game of wait and weight!
How long must I wait
How much more can I take-
Before this sweet little guy
Will find the way to see the sky?

No I can’t stand to live this way much more;
I grow impatient to see my feet down on the floor!
But when I feel that I’m, I’m about to scream-
I make Jer – e – mee go out to buy me lots more ice cream!

You can’t hurry birth- use this refrain again
No you just have to wait! at the end of the page
‘Cause birth don’t come easy-
It’s a game of wait and weight!

You can’t hurry birth-
No you just have to wait.
You’ve got to wait, wait patiently;
No matter how long it takes!
